As for me, I'm french, and these kinds of problems are *never*
completely solved in the sofrware I use. Finally, writing
a bunch of small scripts for encoding the characters appears
to be the less costly and the more empowering solution.

I'm a Hungarian and I can confirm this. God's decision at the tower of Babel has a deep consequence through several generations... ;-) (We have been suffering from the Unicode misery for almost ten years... can anybody see the end of the tunnel?)
