It seems that the lack of netpbm in many systems is one of the most common
problems for many beginners. I wonder if netpbm (and the rest of converters)
could be a dependency instead of a recommended package (at least in Ubuntu).
Almost everybody will need it some day and it is quite unconvinient to find
that it is not installed in your box.
I should add that because Murphy's law the day you need it, you are in a
hurry, your Internet connection refuses to work and the CDs or DVD with your
distribution is at home if you are at the job, or at the job if you are at
home ;-)
