Hello,

I am trying to debug a startup problem with TeXmacs 1.0.6.14 on Solaris.
This is what happens:

$ /opt/texmacs/bin/texmacs -debug -V
TeXmacs] Installing internal plug-ins...
TeXmacs] Opening display...
TeXmacs] loading ecrm11 at 300 dpi
Load TeX tfm ecrm11 (dsize= 10)
TeXmacs] Try tfm ecrm11.tfm
Try pk ecrm11 at 300 dpi
TeXmacs] Open pk ecrm11.300pk
Try pk ecrm10 at 330 dpi
TeXmacs] Open pk ecrm10.330pk
TeXmacs] font ecrm11 at 300 dpi not found
TeXmacs] loading ecrm11 at 300 dpi instead
Load TeX tfm ecrm11 (dsize= 10)
Try pk ecrm11 at 300 dpi
TeXmacs] Open pk ecrm11.300pk
Try pk ecrm10 at 330 dpi
TeXmacs] Open pk ecrm10.330pk

I could not open ecrm11@300

This font problem is related to your disk being
full, or either to a wrong set of permissions
in the directories where TeXmacs (i.e., Metafont)
should be able to compile the fonts.

strace would tell you more, in this respect (i.e.,
you would be able to see the write and/or open
operations which fail, and the path of the related
directories, as well).

My question is: does texmacs *really* need a pk version of ecrm10 or ecrm11? Can't it use the type1 (pfb) version of these fonts that exist on my system?

Menu entry:
Edit->Preferences->Printer->Font type->Type 1 only

But to do this, you must first be able to start TeXmacs once...
