- Subject: [TeXmacs] aspell and character encoding

I have several machines, Linux & Cygwin, which are generally set up for an English-only environment. I've been using Texmacs to conveniently create documents in Spanish, but have trouble with spell-check integration. Spell check for English documents from within Texmacs works well. Spell checking for Spanish documents from within Texmacs fails. I can export Spanish documents as text and use aspell from the command line or from within Xemacs successfully. When Texmacs calls aspell directly, non-English characters appear to be seen by aspell as letters plus " ' " characters deemed by aspell to be illegal in the middle of the words. I've tried both ISO-8859-1 and Utf-8 character encoding as the Texmaxs-->Verbatim converter, and tried both English and Spanish as the interface language preference. Are there recommendations to get this working?
