I'm using Kubuntu 8.04 instead of Ubuntu 8.10. I hope that it doesn't change 
anything.

Unfortunately I don't remember what I installed and uninstalled to be able to 
compile TeXmacs with qt support. 

I'm pretty clueless in compiling things. My strategy was a caotic trial and 
error methodology.
