Hi everyone,

I am a very very beginner of TexMacs or emacs. I want to input superscript. According the tip on the menu, I should type in M-A-hat for superscript, and M-A-_ for subscript. I know how to type in M-A-_ (I press Esc first, then I hold Alt with Shift and -.) but I don't know what the "hat" means. I didn't find anything related in the achive. Your help would be highly appriciated. Thanks a lot.

Alex

Hat means caret  =  ^   same symbol used for superscript in latex.

Notice however that I don't have to type M-A since my keyboard lets me type it directly.

So it goes like this  (I will surround in [ ]  keys to make it clear it's a key
1) Press [ $ ]  , this enter math mode
2) Press  [ x ]   this makes italic  x  appear on screen
3) press  [ _ ]   this creates subscript box   (smaller and lower)
4) press [ -> ] (pressing right arrow exits subscript)
5) press [ ^ ]  pressing hat key  creates  superscript mode
6) press [ 2 ]   typesets a square

notice that I never needed to press  Meta key or Alt key (referred as M- and A- within the doc)
