How do I test my .bib files with bibtex? bibtex seems to want an .aux file.
Also, I just tested TeXmacs 1.0.7.9, and it works fine on my .bib file.

Stupid question: can you bibtex your .bib file successfully, apart
from TeXmacs? Does bibtex throw any warnings when you do that? Haven't
seen this error, but it would be nice to isolate it to TeXmacs first.

Wrong type (expecting pair): "Kagawa, Koji"
I don't know what is wrong with my bibtex:
@inproceedings{Kagawa:1997,
author = {Kagawa, Koji},

booktitle = {Proceedings of the second ACM SIGPLAN international conference
on Functional programming},

Why is it expecting the author to be a pair?
