The semantic structure of my document follows a recursive style.

If a section (at whatever level) has sub-sections then usually prior to those sub-sections there is some introductory narrative which outlines the problems to be addressed in the sub-sections.
This is recursive as the sub-sections follow the same style.
The difficulty occurs at the end of a run of sub-sections where the section narrative carries on using the solution provided by the sub-sections.
First, there are no visual demarcations to show that the sub-section has ended and that we are back to the section - but I could manage that if it were not for the next probem:
Second, there is no logical representation of the ending of a sub-section, because the section/sub-section blocks refer only to the title and not to the content.
It was mentioned a long time ago that a change may be made in this respect - perhaps sub-sections would be handled in a similar fashion to enumerate, which always chooses the next enumerate sub-type, so that enumerate can properly be listed.
I don't see any reason why I should not put together such a style set now, but I invite comment.
