Again for the sake of completeness in the list, I post this very late reply. This issue is being dealt with in a recent thread in texmacs-dev. In a nutshell: a new item is being added to the edit menu. The shortcut for find-next will be displayed next to it.

I note than in a search, the toolbar button becomes find-next - so I can make do with that.
And it's probably time I learned how to define my own key bindings...
