This is easy to do with Format -> Transform -> Superpose.
Enter your x, insert a new argument (the green right arrow on the focus bar),
and then type \ tab (the tab for getting the character \ and not the blue \).
I am not sure however that this kind of notation would be
understood by other mathematicians ;^)
