Actually, I moved the texmacs.desktop file to applications folder in Ubuntu, and then chose open with "GNU Texmacs", but I get "Could not find texmacs" error message.  I can access texmacs via the terminal by typing "texmacs" so I think I set the environment paths correctly.

Let me know if this helped you.  That way you will now be able to select "open with" and choose texmacs.

I installed texmacs from source and I can successfully launch texmacs from the command terminal, and open .tm files with "texmacs filename.tm". I would like to be able to double click on the .tm files and have them open in texmacs as well. Does anyone know how to do this in Ubuntu? I tried creating a launcer with a shell script, but to no avail.
