Hi,

I still didn't decided to go with texmacs, I'm trying now and again.
I like the way things are done when using it, and the feeling of finished document when working on it.

I would like to use texmacs more extensively, but small problems prevent an effective use.
Things are getting better with each release, even the easiness of use and the documentation, but some more descriptive documentation, and/or some example would let to take full advantage of TexMacs possibilities. What is more frustrating to me is that it seems that TexMacs is rich of features... but hidden somewhere.

Anyway, I will not give up. Here is my question.
One and a half year ago there was a problem with spell check for accented letters (at least for the italian language), and still the problem is here (I am using version 1.0.7.15). Is there any advance, or workaround?
The old post follows.

Thanks,

Davide

The spell checker is working again.
Still, remains a problem that I noticed also on previous versions of Texmacs, but I could check it for v. 1.0.7.7 only now:
spell check for languages that make use of accented letters results in improper corrections.
E.g. the Italian word "caffé", which is properly spelled, is signaled wrong and the suggestion is: "caffè".
I get the following message on the console:
TeXmacs] Launching 'aspell -a -d italian'
TeXmacs] ispell error: Error: The word "?" is invalid. The character '?' (U+3F) cannot be at the beginning of a word.

... they probably switched encodings to Unicode in the meantime.
I don't know to fix this bug in a reliable way (so as to work with
old and new versions of the italian dictionary).

So: if someone has a patch, then I will apply it.

[...]

Best wishes, --Joris
