Thank you, François and Miguel.
You may check Edit -> preferences-> look and feel. If it is set to
"default", then you have "Gnome" setting, then cut/copy/paste will be
achieve with ctrl+X/ctrl+C/ctrl+V.
I cannot make sense of what you mean.
While the way of copy and past changes,
the way the pasted characters are displayed doesn't chenge.
Of course, in order to insert mathematical symbols you have to be in
mathematics mode. Try typing d <TAB> _ 1 again after being in math mode.
The TAB key (the so called "variant" mechanism) will help you type many
symbols fast. Just try almost any letter in your keyboard, while in math
mode, and type TAB. You'll see how you can cycle through several options.
Following your advice, now I can make it
in getting Greek characters by typing less keys.
I'm grateful to you for your advice.
I understand you are typing your mathematical formulas directly into a
Maxima session with "Mathematical input" enabled, right?
That's right.
Is there any way to copy and paste just as it is displayed ?
It should work (at least, it does for me...)
I've found just now the way to do that.
Focus
Input options
and check "Multiline input".
Then,I can copy and paste TeX-style characters just as it is displayed !
Now,another problem have emerged.
I have consulted Maxima-discuss mailing list.
Kind regards,
Mark Suzuki

Equation
This has a shortcut as well. It's displayed next to the menu item.
Insert a Greek character
then I can have made \delta_1 succesfully typed as desired.
I've made it also,for instance
\[ \sum_{i=1}^5 \delta_i \]
To get a big sigma for a sum type $ (to get into math mode, if you aren't already) <Shift+F5> But,though I press Meta+W and then Ctrl+Y,
these cannot be copied and pasted to another TeXmacs-maxima terminal
(or another line in the same terminal)
just as it is displayed.
