This is weird, I use the latest TeXmacs daily on an Ubuntu box and I don't have this problem. Might you have conflicts with system bindings? Also, do shortcuts work with another "look and feel"?

i compiled texmacs on a newly installed ubuntu 14.10 OS in order to have the default indentation for python.

I have (at least) one problem : no alt key shortcuts, neither in the me,nus nor with the keyboard. Clearly, one of the good points to texmacs is the use of shortcuts.

Do you have any hints ? Here is what i get in a terminal whiole debugging

debug-keyboard, unrecognized key A-e. Undefined shortcut or key missing in the encoding files.
