Similarly here: Ubuntu Release 16.04 LTX (Xenial) Kernel Linuux 4.4.0-45 generic x86_64 Mint 1.12.1 AMD A4-3400 TeXmacs version 1.99.5 Installed from: TeXmacs-1.99.5-x11-i386-pc-linux-gnu.tar.gz Terminal evocation 1)texmacs 1>tex.lst 2>tex-err.lst 2) Help->Full Manuals>User Manual 3) After "wait" and such I get a pop-up with that message but on the main screen I can link through the index and File->New, works. This was after three trials where it didn't seem (timing?) to work. Here is tex-err.lst QIconvCodec::convertFromUnicode: using Latin-1 for conversion, iconv_open failed QIconvCodec::convertToUnicode: using Latin-1 for conversion, iconv_open failed Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-scale-bitmap-fonts.conf", line 72: non-double matrix element Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-scale-bitmap-fonts.conf", line 72: non-double matrix element Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-scale-bitmap-fonts.conf", line 80: saw unknown, expected number QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 2 QPainter::end: Painter not active, aborted I have attached the tex.lst; if it gets filtered out then I can paste it but it's 5X longer.

I
also tried
build from
sources,
facing some
problems
here.
If
I go to
texmacs/src

“./configure”
will got an
