As far as I know is not possible. You could experiment a bit with constructs
which shift the content and which you find in

Format -> Adjust

e.g. "Shift". You can place the content inside the matrix and the shift it
out of it visually. However it still occupy place so you would ahve to
experimetn with other constructs, maybe one of them remove the size... good
luck

another approach is to put the matrix in a drawing, so that you can freely
place content around.
