The range of the “Ink here” is a rectangular box centered at current cursor, and the position can’t be modified (it’s not the “Origin” property as I originally thought). The size can be changed by setting the “Overlap” property. If the position and size of the box can both be defined freely, then it should be much more convenient for annotation purpose.
The “Draw over selection” tool can’t cover multiple lines/objects, otherwise it’s useful for annotation, too.
I hope the “Ink here” and “Draw over selection” tools can be combined into one tool, in which one can specify a box of arbitrary position and size (which can overlap the existing contents in the page) and make drawings there.

Somebody published a proof of concept with tikz + latex (code forthcoming...),TeXmacs already makes it much more efficient to add under/overbraces (that are actually readable as you type, unlike in LaTeX); I wonder if everything needed to support this kind of annotations (with colored boxes) is available at the Scheme level or would there be a need for C++ changes?Best,Álvaro.
