LaTeX export produces TeX syntax $x=y$ instead of LaTeX syntax, intentional or not?

Hi,

Why does TeXmacs export math as $x=y+z$ instead of \(x=y+z\) during
LaTeX export? The former is TeX, the latter is LaTeX, see e.g.
