Hi TeXmacs users:

I had remastered Knoppix-3.8.1-en with latest TeXmacs, maxima, octave etc
(according to the plugins list in TeXmacs official site). One of new features
of knoppix, UNIONFS,
"allows the user to combine a read-only base directory and a writable overlay
under a new read/write view."
In shortly, you can modify data or install new packages even that system is
boot from DVDrom and re-use at the next time. The bad news is that that
original knoppix doesn't include the necessary packages for TeXmacs, for
example: TeX, gcl and guile etc. And this results the size of
LiveTeXmacs-1.0.4.7 can not be shrinked under 700mb limit and be about 1.3 G!
If you want to use ready-to-use TeXmacs and CAS or remaster it, you can
download LiveTeXmacs-1.0.4.7-dvd.iso from:
ftp://math.cgu.edu.tw/pub

The other feature for LiveTeXmacs is that there are plenty of Python packages,
Vpython-3.1(visual), wx-2.5.5, pygame-1.6.2, numeric, scipy, numarray etc.
included. These will be easy and natural for ones whose are interested in
making visual models or animatiom for scientific problems.
