For TeX users, TeXmacs is more convenient to make article. But more  
tools, more difficult to use. I write a memo ( from the view of TeX and   
now so big, 2Mb, to post here) for my students to learn how to use TeXmacs, 
CAS's and other topics related in calculus lecture. If anyone is interested,

By the way, a bootable KNOPPIX Linux CDROM image (including TeXmacs-1.0.1.8,  
Octave, Maxima-5.9, Scilab, gnuplot) is put in the dir of KNOPPIX.  3D  
softwares, blender and VPython are also included in this CDROM since the  
limit of CDROM content,700Mb, is large enough.
