This works for me in TeXmacs 1.0.2. Try

$-<tab>@@-@@<left>-<tab>$

where <tab> means press the Tab key
and <left> means press the left <- cursor key

You should see the "unary minus" signs closer to the
\infty symbols compared to the "binary minus" sign
between them. It might be nicer if the unary minus
was also a little shorter than the binary one, but
it is pretty good.

Unfortunately unlike \infty , \um does not generate
a unary minus, probably because it is not defined in
the generic style file. But it is possible to create
a new style file and assign <um> as a name for a macro
containing the unary minus.

For example, from the menu do

File/New
Document/Style/No style
Document/View/Preamble mode

Insert/Macro/Assign
um
<right>$-<tab>$<right><enter>

File/Save/Texts/../styles
minus.ts<enter>

File/New
Document/Use package/Other
minus<enter>

$\um<enter>@@$

I haven't quite figured out quite how to encorporate this
into the new tm_axiom interface yet. But there are a few
situations when the Axiom output would look nicer this
way.

Cheers,
Bill Page.
