Take a look at (the not yet complete)

Help -> Manual -> Reference guide for the TeXmacs primitives

By the way, if you want to know how to represent a piece of
text in scheme, simply type it in TeXmacs, do

Edit -> Copy to -> Scheme

and paste it wherever you want.

I think that it is worth it to spend a few hours reading
the whole chapter. I put significant effort into writing
something simple with good examples.
