I did not manage to install LyX on my system, but it seems that
you do not really get the text of the reference; you merely specify
the LaTeX commands "citet" and "citep" for generating the citation.

If you want to export from TeXmacs to LaTeX, then you can do the same
thing: just use the Insert -> Specific -> LaTeX construct in order to
specify some verbatim text which will be included "as is" when exporting
to LaTeX. You may also write your own style package and define the
macros "citet" and "citep" for display inside TeXmacs. The macros will
then be exported appropriately to LaTeX.

Of course, if you want to simulate the citet and citep commands inside
TeXmacs, then you will have to hack the appropriate rendering code.

Best wishes, Joris
