Hi,
There are several softwares that can easily make screencasts on Linux, for
example: vnc2swf, xvidcap etc. I also use them to make some demo files about
python programming within TeXmacs, ref:

(Actually, vnc2swf and xvidcap had been included into previous version of
LiveTeXmacs, LiveZope-3.1.)
