Sure, that is an acceptable temporary solution. Nevertheless, we probably
should add support for one or more of the standard font selection schemes.
This is quite tricky, because we still follow a lot of the LaTeX font
selection rules and some of our own. We also should move to
full Unicode support. In principle, this is done at several places,
but not everywhere.

Yes, that is the first problem, if you want to do things nicely.
Nevertheless, don't hesitate to experiment; any lessons you learn
may be useful for later.
