Hi Franz,

I am the original developer of Wintexmacs but have not been active for quite
some time. The reason being is my day job takes up too much of my time and
open source software is not the most profitable of positions :)

We never did get all the algebra systems working with Wintexmacs mostly due
to scheme problems and I am not really a scheme person but instead the C guy
that did the underlying functions of the posix -> windows translations.

In this situation, your only source of help may be putting some time into
development if you are so inclined. If you want to look at the underlying
pipe data between the CAS and wintexmacs launch the program with the
following arguments (tmwin.exe --show-console --debug-pipes). This will show
you the data that is being passed back and forth. What you probably want to
look for is invalid characters and such that are not being sent/received
correctly. I would be willing to bet that the bug is not in the wintexmacs
executable but rather in the scheme filter.

Aside from that, you can use the Cygwin version. This works identical to the
linux version (correction on Henri's email) and should do fine.

Thanks,

---------------

If it works exactly like the Windows version, it will probably
have the same bugs - so that wouldn´t be any solution.

Furthermore a package of about 80MB only as a graphical frontend
for a CAS is not really what I want.
Nevertheless I actually have downloaded it some days ago, but all
those DOS popup-windows were really annoying, and it was incredibly
slow compared with WinTeXmacs.
So I´ve already deleted this package again and I can´t say for sure,
if it gives the same errors as I´ve described in my first posting
(but I think so).

So I´m still hoping for a solution with WinTeXmacs ...

Regards,
Franz.
