I thought that supporting very old versions of Maxima was unnecessary, but it 
would remove the TeXmacs support of Maxima for some Mac users. One of the 
easiest ways to install Maxima in a Mac is using Fink and only Maxima 5.9.0 
is available for Leopard (the last incarnation of Mac OS X). I hope that the 
porting of Maxima will be done in the next weeks, but I don't know anything 
about the state of it.
