Instead of opening the document using the mouse, open it using a shell. In 
that way, you could read any error message that TeXmacs produced while it 
disapears. That information can be quite useful to trace the problem.

To do it, open a terminal, like Konsole if you are using KDE or xterm, and 
start TeXmacs with the command 'texmacs'.
