There are many discussions on this forum about the convenience of bundling
texmacs with other programs (maxima, etc.) for easier installation. I think
that the idea of having such bundles goes somehow against the good practice in
the free software world, that is of having comparatively small pieces of
software, specialized for different jobs. On the other hand, it is well
understandable that the user may desire to install in one shot all that is
needed to him. I think that a simple and clean solution would be to create
virtual deb packages containing as dependencies all the software that is
tipically needed by typical users, similarly to the 'kde' package in Debian
and
Ubuntu which, when installed, just downloads everything that is needed to have
the kde desktop running. For instance, one could have a package texmacs-full
or
texmacs-maxima or texmacs-cas which has as dependencies maxima, axiom, or
other
similar software.
Now we are here speaking of installation on windows with cygwin. There too,
there is apparently a tool
http://donc.wordpress.com/2006/08/04/apt-for-cygwin/
which emulates apt-get. Apparently apt-get exists also for fink. One could
then
suggest to install cygwin plus the cyg-apt tool or similar (or fink for the
mac
user), and then the texmacs-full package.

By the way, texmacs 1.07 on Intrepid Ibex still does not allow functioning
axiom sessions (see previous post), any suggestions?
