Hi,
I just started working with Joris on the TeX/LaTeX import/export module, for a few weeks.

hi everyone

i import it to texmacs
A least, there is a bug in LaTeX import. The \emph{} statement (or {\em }) is understood by parser as texmacs markup
<with|font-shape|italic| ... >
However I agree that LaTeX macro should probably not be duplicated or overloaded when not necessary.
Don't hesitate to complain about LaTeX importing or exporting module, by reporting bugs on Savannah ( https://savannah.gnu.org/task/?func=additem&group=texmacs ). Please, provide needed files for bug reproduction.
I don't promise to produce hotfixes for each problem, but its very usefull to collect numerous use cases in order too improve the converter.
Best regards.
François
