What version of TeXmacs are you using? The changes you need are quite straightforward to make using 1.99.2:

I also have a problem with images. Some are showed correctly on Texmacs but when I print them they are cut.
Two things:
* Try to always use EPS files. It's not necessary but works best.
* When you insert an image be sure to specify the dimensions in the image tag (you can use the focus bar for this).
Also, please use the latest version of TeXmacs available.
