Kostas,

Thanks, but it didn't work.  I put a copy of an strace file at:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16128349/reduce/texmacs.lst
There are  accesses to

/home/rrogers/.TeXmacs/plugins/reduce/progs/init-reduce.scm

and it opens it, but I still can't access reduce.

Let me know if I can provide any other info.
If you think I am starting up wrong (which is reasonable), can you send a short script I can load or import that will avoid anything I might be doing without noticing it?  If you have expectations about responses then you could write them out and I could email them.

Try using the TeXmacs plugin that is in your Reduce installation (under
generic/texmacs).  The plugin that comes with TeXmacs works only with
the PSL version of Reduce.

And yes, you can use Phi.  You type in "Phi" and TeXmacs will respond
with a greek Phi.

Hi, I have been trying to get Texmacs to have a "reduce" session.

I have a
make >make.lst 2>&1
available.  But reduce doesn't show up in the plugin sections.  There is a
subdirectory under TeXmacs.
I am a beginner with TeXmacs so it could be something simple; but the manual
search says it only has to be on $PATH.  redpsl, redcsl, and reduce are on the
path.

BTW: I have a question (my real motivation); if I run a reduce session will I
be able to use capitol greek letters?  I want to use \Phi and apparently have
to do something special to get it to display.  Although I am a beginer there
also.
