Dear Kostas,

I hope someone will be able to help you here because AFAIK none of the
developers use FreeBSD... Anyway I suggest you document this issue by
filling a bug report (https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?group=texmacs),
providing the debug output. It could be useful to state the version of the
libraries (freetype, notably) that you use. Also please mention if you know
this was working at some point in the past.
