[TeXmacs] How to set the footer in a document?

Dear all,

I'm new to TeXmacs and trying to get my feet wet in the editor. One thing I'm struggling with is including a footer in my document. I found the entry in the menu, but I couldn't find any documentation on how it works. At least, all I found was that I think the interface is a macro (by use of grep). However, macros are a little advanced for me at this point.

Nevertheless, after I insert the footer from the menu, I see this at the bottom of my document.

<set-this-page-footer|>

When I export, I see the markup (and not a footer), 
presumably because the tag is "inactive". If I press <enter>
at the end of the footer text, the text disappears leading
me initially to hope that the text will finally become
visible on export. Alas, that doesn't appear to be how it
works. I have tried placing the tag both at the bottom of 
the text, as well as the top with no luck.

Could you point me towards how I can get my footer to display? Thanks for all your help.
