- Subject: [TeXmacs] Ctrl and other modifiers not working on linux
- Date: Sat, 9 Mar 2019 15:47:14 +0100
Hi to everyone,
I am new to TeXmacs and after several unsuccessful attempts to solve
this problem by myself and with google, I think it's time for me to
ask to expert people.
I use TeXmacs without problems on Windows 8.1. Download. Install.
Works perfectly.
Now I have the need to use it also on linux. I have tried Ubuntu
16.04, Ubuntu 18.04 and now lubuntu 18.10 and every time I have the
same problem.
Installation goes well (download appropriate .deb file for TeXmacs and
for guile, install both) but when I run the program, only the 'shift'
modifier seems to work. No 'ctrl', no 'alt', no 'win' or other. While
writing math I am left with shift, tab and mouse clicks, which sucks.
I remark that the shortcut keys which do not work, do not either
appear when hovering the cursor on the corresponding command, or
written next to the commands, as they do on Windows version.
I found this old message which seems to describe the same problem, but
with no solution:

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you,

To call in the statistician after the experiment is done may be
no more than asking him to perform a post-mortem examination:
he may be able to say what the experiment died of. (R.A. Fisher)
