The "Enter" thing is more a feature of interactive system: you are interacting with TeXmacs rather than pass a segment of source code to it.

The combination of "/" and "\" to \land is of a different nature: it is more or less a keybinding of the editor (note that text editors are also configurable: say, especially if you have experience of latexsuite in vim, one can set up similar keybindings). I believe that this behavior should be customizable, but I don't know how. Maybe others in this mailing list are capable to answer this.

Frank,
Thank you for the rapid response. I have also noticed that $x/\alpha$
must by typed as $x/<space>\alpha<Enter>$, etc. Well, that's OK, but
old habits are difficult to abandon...

Hello,

To do that literally, you need to press $, \, a, l, p, h, a, followed by
pressing "Enter", not $. After inputting alpha and "Enter", you can
press another $ to exit the math mode.

(Of course, in math mode, you can just press a followed by pressing
"Tab" to get an alpha)

If my understanding is correct, you enter the math mode when you press
the first $, and after pressing \, it comes into kinda command mode. In
that mode, by pressing "Enter", you confirm what you inputted into a
real command (before which the command is still under construction) and
since this command has no parameter, equivalently put, it does not
receive any argument, you return to the math mode.

Best wishes,

Frank

Dear All,
By typing $\alpha$ I get a frame with <hybrid|alpha> text in it.
Why not Greek letter in math mode as suggested by FAQ?
Thank you,
Jerzy
