Hello everyone and Tilda or Mathias A. Steiner
Since updating MacOS, I had the same problem with older versions of TeXmacs and even with version 2.1.4. TeXmacs always crashed on startup. I use a MacBook Pro with 2 other 27" external displays. If I try to start TeXmacs from external displays or by double-clicking a TeXmacs document on an external display, TeXmacs does not start and gives an error message. HOWEVER if I start Texmacs from the MacBook Pro's built-in screen or double-click a TeXmacs document from the built-in screen, everything works fine. Once TeXmacs is running and I have my documents open, I can use them on all screens. So I think the problem is not only with TeXmacs but also, a little, with how MacOS handles external displays.
Hope this could help. Greetings. Normand Beaudoin.

Dear Joris,

thank you very much for making TeXmacs 2.1.4 available.

However, I experienced some issues when downloading TeXmacs-2.1.4.dmg  from https://www.texmacs.org/tmweb/download/macosx.en.html
The Texmacs.app contained therein does not run on MacOS 10.10 or later. Trying to launch the app yields an error message:

You have macOS 10.13.6 installed on your computer. This program requires macOS 10.14.6 or later

So my questions are

  • will there be a TeXmacs-2.1.4.dmg file that that actually runs on MacOS 10.10 or later, as stated on the web page?
  • Does running the app contained in TeXmacs-2.1.4-os10.6.dmg on computers operating on MacOS 10.10 or later cause problems to the system?
  • Could the downloading page be fixed accordingly? I suppose other users may have had or will experience similar issues, especially when trying to upgrade from within TeXmacs.

Yours sincerely
Tilda A. Steiner

Dear all,

After a long time of absence (due to a change in the team of
active maintainers of TeXmacs), we are pleased to announce
the new version 2.1.4 of TeXmacs.  The main changes are as follows:

 - Headless option for running TeXmacs as a window-less script.
 - Improved subtables.
 - Many bug fixes.
 - Progress towards side tools, experimental.
 - Progress towards markup driven graphical user interface, experimental.

Note that, for the first time, we also provide an official AppImage package under GNU/Linux.

Happy TeXmacsing, --Joris
