hi

When you have X11 running, and X11 is currently in front, click on the menu item
X11->Preferences (in the OSX menu at the top of the screen)

Select the "Input" tab, and unselect the
"Follow system keyboard layout" tickmark.

that is still the case for me

This should, according to
http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20040425231058862
automatically source the .Xmodmap file.

i have quited x11
i have launched texmacs again
i type $ and apple f and alt f... nothing, none of them works
i use my autumn leaves
now it works
i precise that my .Modmap is at the rot of my little home
i guess it should be at another place
what place ?
the article you mention seems to confirm it is where i have let it
