Dear Frank,

Perhaps there are other suitable decentralized protocols: in my experience the latency achievable with SyncThing is not compatible with live updates for synchronous editing. And it seems to me that the protocol for live edits is more complex than whole-file synchronization.

As far as I am concerned, if TeXmacs supports a reliable centralized solution, potentially one where users pay to cover infrastructure and development costs (still free as in freedom), that will be already an extraordinary achievement and a very compelling use-case for TeXmacs.

Regards,

Álvaro.

Hi Joris,

Will you distribute the server side later? I hope that it could be decentralized later.

I hope that we can take advantage of SyncThing, which is basically p2p instead of a centralized server.

Best,
Frank
