there is GNU/Octave <http://www.octave.org/>, to 98% it's compatible
with matlab.
the only GUI i know of is http://kstraight.net/goctave hence would be
great if TeXmacs could interface with Octave / Matlab.
Unfortunately i have no time and wont need GNU/Octave for my work in the
next 3 years, so i cant really contribute to the effort.
