This is strange. It seems (according to apt-file) that the texmacs deb
just puts fig2ps in usr/bin/fig2ps. So there should be not PATH problem.

I would like to try it again, but have found that TeXmacs will no longer
allow me to embed any kind of image in a document. When I go to select
a file to embed, it just sits there, with the dialog box still open, and
won't refresh it's windows or anything. It does not even spin the CPU.
Probably related to the ghostscript problem. I don't try it with a latex formula, but it works perfectly with the same kind of workaround as with postscript image, i.e. launch texmacs in an xterm, shifts the xterm on one side, the texmacs window on another, so that you can access both. When you see in the xterm that the process hangs, type ctrl-C (you have to type it twice for an xfig image), then the image loads in the texmacs window.
