As Ingolf said, on MacOSX you will in either case get an older version, in fact the same version 1.0.4 whether you install the precompiled binary or you compile from source. If you want to use Fink to get a more recent version of texmacs, I would recommend to do the following:
Copy the file /sw/fink/dists/stable/main/finkinfo/editors/texmacs.info to the directory /sw/fink/dists/local/main/finkinfo/. If that directory does not exist, create it and make it writable for yourself. Then edit this file temacs.info by replacing the lines
Version: 1.0.4
Revision: 2
by
Version: 1.0.6.6
Revision: 1
and the line
Source-MD5: 62869c522ae939c485c6f04144c0feeb
by
Source-MD5: 53e21e5cb1a536a60cd6fb28dcb598d9
Then try to build texmacs from source. There is a chance that it will go through, but since nobody tried this before on 10.2, it may also fail, perhaps due to too old versions of some dependencies.
