These kind of things can become quite annoying
if your document becomes complex.

The only solution which gives you 100% control
on this is to work in Source tree mode:
Document->View->Edit source tree

This way, you work by means of editing directly
the underlying markup, and thus you can see
exactly what happens when the editor performs
a given operation.
