executing maxima_detect with *any* parameter is supposed to find and print the path to maxima_toc.html. You should exectute it without parameters. I'd expect the result

If you get something different, please execute

maxima --list-avail

and post the result. When executed with a parameter, maxima_detect calls

maxima -d

Among the output lines, there should be

maxima-htmldir=<something>

Is this line correct? If not, this is a bug in maxima (or ecl).
