hi what a nice work
i prefer 4 for its simplicity and i like quite much 8
i am wondering how to make a logo that would respect the colors Joris choosed 
on the texmacs site (the same as you keeped on your evolution of the website 
- very fine your version of the site d'ailleurs j'ai trouvé)
but also i would say that it is a better idea to answer to your question 
"assuming that the name wont change"
i have an idea on this point i am preparing it
