I have installed BOTH maxima and xmaxima 5.26.0-2 with Fink on MacOS 10.7.
plot2d works fine from within TeXmacs and outputs to an Aquaterm window 
outside of TeXmacs.
It's not possible for the moment to output directly to TeXmacs though I'd 
like to have the choice.
As for Sage, show() does not work here either, neither does multiline input, 
but that's another problem...
