I've experimented with using ibus table compose and latex input methods. I found that some unicode characters don't input. The same ones won't register when I paste them in also. I'm thinking that the only way this will get fixed is by somebody who already understands TeXmacs internals to deal with it... I'm learning it but have limited time right now.

Try running ibus-setup. I think you have to use 'root' window input, but try different settings.

I believe that my distro uses ibus by default. At least, the packages ibus-gtk:i386, libibus-1.0-5 and gir1.2-ibus-1.0 are installed in my system.
