I did the same thing, and it did not work. I change the style to "plain", it works. I change back to "tm-plain", the bibliography comes back to empty list and \cite becomes "??".

The body of .tm is (the bibliography file is saved as test.bib)

<\body>
  Test <cite|2016arXiv160807704N>

  <\bibliography|bib|tm-plain|test>
    <\bib-list|0>
      </bib-list>
  </bibliography>
</body>
Best wishes to all.

Frank,
just to be clear: I’m not importing anything into TeXmacs. What I’m doing is: put the
bibliography item into a bib file, e.g. sample.bib with an external text editor and then
in a TeXmacs document select Insert->Automatic->Bibliography from the menus and
select the bib file. At this point using \cite in the document and having TeXmacs update
the document (with Document->Update->All) makes the bibliography correctly appear.
I’m on MacOS with TeXmacs 1.99.9.

Does this works for you?

Thanks, I was too sloppy. I will report it to the developer of that bibtex
exportation.

I downloaded the official Debian build 1.99.9 with guile. I don't know
whether for others tm-plain works. (I tried to import it in an empty file. It
does not work either)

Best wishes,

For me works using tm-plain. Of course the bibliography item is not correct
but this is not a problem of TeXmacs, I’ve checked that also LaTeX does
not render it correclty. It is simply a wrong BibTeX snippet. You have to
edit it in order to change \textbackslash into \ and \textbackslashinfty into
\infty

then should work as expected.

For example, I input the citation from
https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2016arXiv160807704N/exportcitation, with
setting tm-latex, no bib was successfully loaded.

(Sorry, I forgot to set CC to the mailing list in the last email)

Best wishes to all.

Sorry, maybe I was not clear. I don't want to customize anything.

I find that the default style is "tm-plain", and I should change it to
"plain" to work. I wonder whether there are some recommendations against plain bibtex
I see. Personally, I do not experience any particular problem with the
standard bibliography, I think I always use tm-plain. Can you describe what
happens if you use it?

I also find that the tex command for accents does not work well for bibtex
import in TeXmacs. I just wanted to show an example that if the title of an
item includes Expos\textbackslash'e, then accented é is shown incorrectly.

Expos\textbackslash’e does not seems to me correct even in TeX, it should be
Expos\’e no?

Can you post an full example to show the problem?

What do you mean? You want to costomize the bibliography style?

I also would like to ask the suggested approach to deal with bibliography for
the moment (maybe bibtex is deprecated now?)

Dear all,

It seems to me that the online documents about importing bibliography in TeXmacs is not up to
date. I imported one file, and by default it's set to "tm-plain". I need to change it
to "plain".

By the way, it seems to me that the importation of "LaTeX-style" accents are
processed incorrectly. For example, Expos\textbackslash'e (I usually batch import the
bib exported online).
