Hi,

I installed the TeXmacsStarter.app, but it did not start TeXmacs. I should have expected this, since I am only running Panther (10.3.9). The starter application activated X11, but then nothing more happend. The run.log says:

dyld: texmacs.bin Undefined symbols:
/Applications/TeXmacsStarter.app/Contents/Resources/TeXmacs/lib/ libguile.12.dylib undefined reference to _ftime expected to be defined in /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib

and cmd.log says:

Normally TeXmacs runs fine in X11, it is insalled via fink, as is all the other required programs (teTeX, ghostscript etc...)

I just wanted to announced the first or alpha version of an application bundle for MacOS X Tiger. It can be downloaded at

Installation is simple just copy the application inside the .dmg-file into your favourite folder, e.g. Applications.

The application bundle includes TeXmacs 1.0.6, Ghostscript 8.5 and Guile-CVS, so there are no real requirements to using TeXmacs.

For optimal use an installed version of teTeX is recommended. For the moment only teTeX via Fink or DarwinPorts is supported.

Important differences to other platforms:

1.) TeXmacs preferences in standard Mac OS X location, i.e. /Users/username/Library/TeXmacs
2.) ttf search path is only in /Users/username/Library/TeXmacs/fonts/ttf
3.) Some plugins (R, shell) do not work, because I am waiting for the main TeXmacs tree to incorporate the necessary patches.
4.) An log of the output of TeXmacs can be found in /Users/username/Library/TeXmacs/run.log

Things, I am not happy with:

1.) I want to support older versions of Mac OS X, but I have no platform for testing.
2.) Support for iInstaller teTeX (Can somebody sent me the necessary path variables for it ?)

Things, I would like to include:
1.) Menu support for flushing the cache.
2.) Semi automatic import of ttf fonts, i.e. automatic generation of menu etc.
3.) Spotlight plugin

So, give it a try and give feedback.

P.S. This application is not a universal binary, only the wrapper is, so don't be confused by that. Anyone with an Intel-based Mac offering help is very welcome.
