I was just considering this myself. Because I also use LyX which
Debian has resolved to be compatible with either texlive or tetex.
However, as you've stated texmacs depends on tetex and will uninstall
texlive in Debian. Although, I was just thinking ... tetex provides
everything I need. So, why worry about? I'm just going to install
tetex with LyX and texmacs and not worry about it. Probably in the
next Debian stable release it will all be changed anyway.
